“SE DESEA INFORMES”

Abstract

Writing of the use of the pronoun se as subject in the construction known as the impersonal active, Sr. Gili y Gaya says: “La impersonal activa es moderna y frecuente en el habla usual”. The word “moderna” is apparently a relative term here, for a little further on (116) Sr. Gili y Gaya adds, though without quoting actual cases, that the construction began to increase in frequency “a medida que se fué consolidando el uso de la preposición a con acusativo de persona (hacia el siglo XV)”.
