As is well known, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (United Nations 1951) was largely the product of Raphael Lemkin, himself a Holocaust refugee, who also coined the term “genocide” in his volume Axis Rule in Occupied Europe: Laws of Occupation, Analysis of Government, Proposals for Redress (1944).
