Thread Bearing Witness and Stitch-A-Tree were originally conceived for the Whitworth, the University of Manchester and the Discovery Centre, Winchester. Mary La Trobe-Bateman, OBE MDesRCA, is a freelance curator, writer and lecturer in the applied arts with an extensive knowledge of exhibiting and commissioning craft. From 1994-2005 she was Director of Contemporary Applied Arts, London. She has since curated many exhibitions and lectured at institutions worldwide. [email protected]
