This edition of the Journal has a complete variety of cosmetic based manuscripts starting 5 relevant to energy-based technologies. Initially, Bibliash looks at laser hair removal and queries whether lasers are superior to lights in the photoepilation of Fitzpatrick V and VI skin types? – A comparison between and Nd:YAG laser and an IPL. This is followed by studies looking at the treatment of vascular lesions located in the lip and in the oral cavity with an Nd-YAG laser; comparison of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser alone versus its combination with CO2 for the treatment of black tattoos; use of a novel combined radiofrequency and ultrasound device for lipolysis, skin tightening and cellulite treatment; and lastly a systematic review of microwave-based therapy for axillary hyperhidrosis.
The next series of studies include a fascinating prospective 3D analysis of facial soft tissue augmentation with calcium hydroxylapatite; a look at punch graft versus follicular hair transplantation in the treatment of stable vitiligo; salicylic acid peeling combined with vitamin C mesotherapy versus salicylic acid peeling alone in the treatment of mixed-type melisma; and mitigation of epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor-induced side effects utilizing melanin and vascular-specific lasers.
The last set of papers look at complications. They include a description of facial intramuscular lipoma occurrence following topical cosmetic injection with a mixture of basic fibroblast growth factor; a granulomatous reaction to hyaluronic acid filler injections; and a look at cutaneous foreign body granulomas associated with a lipolytic cocktail.
Enjoy!
