We recognize that some unrelated transcription errors occurred in the published work. Importantly, the transcription errors do not affect the principal findings or any of the conclusions of our study.

  1. On page 1346, the middle column headings in Table 1 should read from left to right as follows, “< 24 weeks of gestation” and “≥ 24 weeks of gestation”.

  2. On page 1348, the last line of the first paragraph should read as follows, “…. 46.9% (30/64) p = 0.71]”.

  3. On page 1349, the Table 3 note should read as follows, “Data are presented as % (n/N), median (interquartile range [IQR] or minimum maximum)”.

  4. On page 1350, in Table 4 the sample sizes under the column headings ‘n’ and ‘%’, row #2 for the MIAC study group and for row #4 for the Sterile intra-amniotic inflammation study group should read as follows, “28 12” and “24 11”, respectively. The corresponding values for the same study groups in rows #6 and #8 should read as follows: “13 12” and “15 14”, respectively.

The Table below shows how the four study groups described in Tables 1-4 were composed – the Table is unrelated to the transcription errors, but may be helpful in understanding our results.
