Statement of Retraction: Does timing of urinary catheter removal after elective cesarean section affects postoperative morbidity?: A prospective randomized trial

This article refers to:
RETRACTED ARTICLE: Does timing of urinary catheter removal after elective cesarean section affects postoperative morbidity?: a prospective randomized trial

We, the Editors and Publisher of the Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, have retracted the following article:

Nisreen Khaled Aref (2020) Does timing of urinary catheter removal after elective cesarean section affects postoperative morbidity?: a prospective randomized trial, The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 33:18, 3141-3146, DOI: 10.1080/14767058.2019.1569619

Since publication, significant concerns have been raised about the fact that this article has substantial overlap, particularly in Tables 2 and 3, with the following article:

Ahmed, Magdy R. et al. (2014) Timing of urinary catheter removal after uncomplicated total abdominal hysterectomy: a prospective randomized trial. European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Volume 176, 60–63.

Upon query, the author has not been able to provide a satisfactory explanation for this significant level of overlap. For this reason, we are retracting the article from the journal.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
