Since our last editorial, Journal of Systematic Palaeontology has seen some changes to the Editorial Board. We’d like to welcome our new Associate Editors Guillaume Billet, Katie Collins, Alistair Evans, Serjoscha Evers, Erin Maxwell and Jérémy Tissier. We also wish to express our thanks and gratitude to Pip Brewer, Jonah Choiniere, Rebecca Freeman and, one of our longest-standing Associate Editors, Adrian Lister, for their time on the Editorial Board and the hard work they’ve contributed to the journal.

As we move into the twentieth year of the Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, we are excited to announce that the Journal is moving to online-only, with a ‘build issues online’ publishing model. This move means that there are no longer any colour figure charges or need for monochrome figures. It also removes potential confusion over the reference and date priority of new taxa, which sometimes occured due to online publication one year and printed publication the next, as well as speeding up acceptance to final publication time and providing a more sustainable alternative to printing (and transporting) paper versions of the journal. As a result of this transition, we’re thrilled to announce that we have eliminated our backlog meaning that our acceptance to publication times are now extremely rapid.

Finally, we’d like to announce a new category of paper – mini-reviews. These are envisaged as short, targeted discussion pieces on topics of current debate in palaeontological systematics or methods. If interested in submitting a contribution please look online for further details of how to do so.
