Sergey Tyulenev is director of the MA in translation studies at Durham University, UK. He holds two PhDs – in philology (Moscow State University, 2000) and translation studies (University of Ottawa, 2009). His academic interests include translation theory, the sociology of translation, the historiography of translation, and the history of translation in Russia. Among his recent publications are Translation and Society: An Introduction (2014), Translation and the Westernization of Eighteenth-Century Russia: A Social-Systemic Perspective (2012) and Applying Luhmann to Translation Studies: Translation in Society (2012).
