This article refers to:
Volatile oil constituents and antibacterial activity of different parts of Falcaria vulgaris Bernh. growing wild in two localities from Iran

We, the Editors and Publishers of Natural Product Research, are retracting the following article:

Ali Shafaghat, ‘Volatile oil constituents and antibacterial activity of different parts of Falcaria vulgaris Bernh. growing wild in two localities from Iran.’ Natural Product Research 2011; 25(4):368–373. DOI:10.1080/14786411003774312

We are now cognisant of an extended and substantially similar version of this article which was concurrently submitted to, and published in, Natural Product Communications.

Ali Shafaghat, ‘Free radical scavenging and antibacterial activities, and GC/MS analysis of essential oils from different parts of Falcaria vulgaris from two regions.’ Natural Product Communications 2010; 5(6):981–984.

This action constitutes a breach of warranties made by the author with respect to originality. We note we received, peer-reviewed, accepted and published the article in good faith based on these warranties. We therefore censure this action: it constitutes a severe violation of the professional ethics of scientific research, worsened by the fact that the author should have been fully aware that the two papers were concurrently under evaluation by two different Journals.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as RETRACTED.
