Received 30 May 2024, Accepted 09 Jun 2024, Published online: 19 Jun 2024

Abstract

The rising interest in natural products for their biomedical applications marks an exciting era in modern medicine. Natural products, derived from plants and microorganisms, have been the cornerstone of traditional medicine for centuries. Their unique chemical diversity and biological activities offer vast potential for developing novel therapeutic agents. This letter highlights the critical role of natural products in revitalizing healthcare and their promising future in modern medicine. Natural products have historically provided effective treatments for various diseases, with drugs like paclitaxel and artemisinin exemplifying their impact. The rise of antimicrobial resistance has renewed interest in natural products as sources of new antibiotics. Additionally, natural compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, such as curcumin, show significant promise in managing chronic diseases. Technological advancements have accelerated the discovery and development of natural productbased drugs, though challenges like sustainable sourcing and regulatory hurdles remain. Addressing these challenges and fostering global collaboration can unlock the full potential of natural products and drive healthcare innovation.
