Recent development in structure determinations for quasicrystals

Abstract

This paper briefly reviews recently developed methods which are applicable to an accurate determination of quasicrystal structures on the basis of a higher-dimensional cluster model. The structure analysis based on this model, which has been shown to be applicable to all quasicrystals, is demonstrated in the case of the basic Ni phase in decagonal Al–Ni–Co quasicrystals.
