The effects of porosity and impurity on x-ray integrated intensities for powders

Pages 969-975 | Received 19 Nov 1964, Published online: 20 Aug 2006

Abstract

The effects of sample porosity and weakly absorbing impurities on the x-ray integrated intensities for compressed powders are considered and experimental results are presented which demonstrate their magnitude. The effects of porosity, which may be of importance when absolute intensity measurements are made, are found to be in agreement with those predicted by the semi-empirical expression given by DeMarco and Weiss.
