An analysis of vacancy annealing in dilute aluminium-indium alloys on quenching

Abstract

The annealing of quenched dilute aluminium-indium alloys has been interpreted in the literature to give both high and low values for the indium atom-vacancy binding energy. The present work attempts to distinguish between the two proposals by comparing the predictions of a model system with the experimental observations. The results support the lower binding energy interpretation.
