Abstract

HIGH TEMPERATURE CREEP OF CUPROUS OXIDE SINGLE CRYSTALS

The creep of single crystal Cu2O has been studied for various temperatures (700°C < T < 1000°C), oxygen pressure (0.1 Pa < Po2, < 104 Pa) and stresses (2M Pa < γ <24 M Pa). The stress was applied along 〈100〉 and 〈110〉 axes. The main features of transient creep are presented. A steady-state creep appears and the parameters of the creep equation have been determined. All these results lead to the conclusion that recovery creep occurs in Cu2O.
