In most national contexts, as demonstrated in the papers that appear in this special issue supplement, National Park designations are most prominent in terms of protection status and tourism. Other PNA designations, such as Wilderness Areas, Conservation Areas and Recreation Reserves, may vary greatly in terms of conservation policy, recreation management and tourism.
