Notes
1 A limitation of Tauber’s research was that it was based on the experience of rabbis at the liberal end of the Jewish communal spectrum. One might speculate that more “traditional” rabbis also derive their success as adult educators due to their relationships with their learners, albeit relationships that may be based on unquestioning devotion to the belief systems and practices such religious leaders inspire. Future research comparing the adult educator identities of a wider range of rabbis, as well as clergy from different religions, is clearly needed.
