An additional interesting element that enters the assessment of the level of help, but that I do not have the space to discuss here, is the difference between help as pure benefit versus as saving from harm.

Surprising in a different way is Jennifer Swindell Blumenthal-Barby's criticism of my position on SDM as “completely unsupported and misguided” (2013, 32) based on her attribution to me of a theory of SDM (Eddy Citation1990) that I presented as the most underdeveloped interpretation of it.
