Professor Pope was an Observer for the Uniform Law Commission study committee and drafting committee on the Uniform Determination of Death Act. He was a member and co-author for the Guideline Development Group on the 2023 Canadian Brain-Based Definition of Death. And he was a co-author on the World Brain Death Project. Professor Pope has received honoraria for presentations on brain death at various hospitals and universities. He receives royalties from Wolters Kluwer for his book The Right to Die: The Law of End-of-Life Decision Making.
