Abstract
The results of source apportionment of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans in Korean soil samples collected around an incinerator are presented. For source identification, a comparison of congener and/or isomer profiles between soil samples and potential sources (flue gas, vehicle, pentachlorophenol, and chloronitrophen) was conducted. In addition, a multivariate method (principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis) was performed. To examine the influence of chloronitrophen in soils, all the tetra- to octachlorinated congeners were measured. The source apportionment was conducted using a multiple regression analysis. The flue gas, pentachlorophenol, and chloronitrophen contributed 2%–89%, 9%–62%, and 1%–86%, respectively.
