Abstract
Myron Hofer believes that the mind emerges from the body when bodily processes (including affect and motivation) are represented through learning, at a higher symbolic level. I offer an alternative conceptualization of the relationship between mind and body: the processes of the body, representational and pre-representational, are mental when experienced subjectively. This conceptualization has implications for neuropsychoanalytical translational science.
