Strategic Decisions: Life History, Interpersonal Relations, Intergenerational Neurobiology, and Ethics in Parenting and Development

Pages 185-191 | Published online: 14 Jun 2012

SYNOPSIS

I review the preceding articles of this issue in the context of strategic decisions, decisions made in the context of uncertainty or risk. From a life history perspective, these decisions are made early in life to probabilistically increase procreative success under expected environmental conditions. They are made by both parents and offspring and instigated/supported by their correlated neurobiologies. Life history trajectories might best be decelerated via collective societal mobilization to support children and caregivers.
