From the Managing Editor

It is time for me to say good-bye. After 15 years of being involved with the Journal of Bisexuality, I am retiring. It has been an exciting journey. The special issue on Bisexuality and Aging will be my last issue as Managing Editor. The idea of such a special issue came to me as I realized that this topic has never been addressed. I wanted the journal to reach out to find the latest material on aging in the bisexual community. I want to express my gratitude to Dr. M. Paz Galupo, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Bisexuality, for securing the Special Issue Editor for the aging issue: Jan D. Sinnott, PhD, who accepted this task.

There are many people I would like to thank personally.

Most importantly, my thank you to Dr. Fritz Klein for starting the journal in the year 2000. He approached me to help him with this journal as his assistant. He had just secured Haworth Press as the publisher. We were very excited to start this project. The format was quite different from what it has evolved to today. We included personal stories, cartoons, historical accounts, therapy issues, health issues, media representation, film and book reviews, and bisexual resources.

Dr. Jonathan Alexander agreed to take on the editorship after Dr. Klein died in 2006. At that time I was the Assistant Editor. He began moving the journal in a more scholarly direction to become a resource for academics interested in the study of bisexuality.

The Taylor and Francis Group, which bought Haworth Press in 2008, continued to publish the journal. I took on the role of guiding the journal as Managing Editor.

Dr. Brian Zamboni stepped in as interim Editor when Dr. Alexander resigned in 2010, and Dr. James Weinrich, who became the Editor in 2012.

Due to the increase in work load I had to make the decision to expand the editorial staff.

Dr. M. Paz Galupo joined the journal as Editor-in-Chief in January 2015, with Dr. Weinrich staying on as Editor. She is taking on the responsibility of continuing to publish the journal. There is no need for the position of Managing Editor, because I feel with all my heart that with Dr. Galupo on board the journal is in very capable hands. She is as dedicated to the journal as I have been all these years.

I especially want to thank the American Institute of Bisexuality (AIB) for sponsoring the journal. AIB was founded by Dr. Fritz Klein as a nonprofit corporation to encourage, support, and assist research and education about bisexuality, and enhance public knowledge and awareness.

Over the span of 15 years we have published 22 Special Issues, some of which have also been published as books. For more information on the history of the journal please see the Special Issue: 10 Year Anniversary of the Journal of Bisexuality, Volume 11/ Number 4.

I am satisfied that I am leaving the journal in a good position. It is considered a stable title by Taylor & Francis.
