Notes
1 Q&A with Desiree Akhavan, NewFest, SVA Theater, New York, NY, October 29, 2018.
2 Elsewhere I read Appropriate Behavior alongside Ingrid Jungermann’s debut feature Women Who Kill (Citation2016) as transforming the ex-partners’ romantic attachments into creative investments that defy masculinist and monogamist models of individualist authorship and proprietary coupling (San Filippo, Citation2019).
3 As of this writing, no continuation of The Bisexual has been announced, and Akhavan is presently at work on a collection of personal essays to be published by Random House.
