Design and Control of Modified Super Lift Luo Converter for Electric Vehicle Applications

Abstract

Most of the developed and developing countries focused on the renewable energy sources conversion into alternate energy sources to compete with the depletion of conservative resources. The quality of this energy should be high because it will be used in every nook and corner of the world. The most applicable renewable source of energy is solar, which can be getting directly from the sun by a solar photovoltaic array. The power from the SPV array is irregular, so there is a need for DC-DC converters to generate the regulated constant power. This proposed work developed a Modified Super Lift Luo Converter (MSLLC) with high energy conversion. This converter is more effective than existing converters and it can also boost up the voltage up to 8.17 times the input voltage. The proposed MSLLC converter can attain better efficiency at 93.94% at 1000 W/m2 irradiance.

S. Nazrin Salma, graduated in B.E. Instrumentation and Control in 2012, from Sethu Institute of Technology, Virudhunagar, Tamilnadu, India. Received M.E. in Control and Instrumentation from Nellai College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India (former National College of Engineering) in 2014. She worked as an Assistant Professor in Nellai College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu, India (former National College of Engineering) under the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2016 to 2019. Currently working in Thamirabharani Engineering College, Tirunelveli, India under the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering since 2019. Her research interests include electric power components and systems.

S. Dhanalakshmi

S. Dhanalakshmi, graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1996 from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and post graduated in Power Systems from NIT Trichy, India in 1998. (Former Regional Engineering College, Trichy) She was with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil, India from 2002 to 2008. From 2008 to 2011 she was a Full Time Research Scholar under a DST funded Project at n-Cardmath centre of Kalasalingam University. Completed her Ph.D. in the area of Power System Operation Control, Deregulation and Multi-objective Optimization. Published and participated many International Conferences and 3 International Journals. She is a recognized Supervisor of Anna University, Chennai. Also active member in IEEE, ISTE and IE(I) for the past 5 years. Currently working as Associate professor in Velammal College of Engineering and Technology, Madurai under Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering since 2012. Her research interests include electric power components and systems.

M. Rajkumar

M. Rajkumar received the B.E. EEE in 1999 from National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, Tamilnadu, India, M.E. Power Systems in 2004 from Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering, Srivilliputhur, Tamilnadu, India and PhD in 2014 from Kalasalingam University, Srivilliputhur, Tamilnadu, India. Currently, he is the Principal of JP College of Engineering, Tenkasi, Tamilnadu, India. His fields of interest are power system optimization, evolutionary computation techniques and applications to engineering optimization problems.
