Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) have significantly increased in recent years due to a growing awareness of the effects of polluting gases produced by combustion engines. The use of electric vehicles produces no emissions, making them a much more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional combustion engines. In addition, the price of EVs has decreased significantly in recent years, making them more affordable for consumers. The use of distributed generation (DG), an alternative source of energy for power systems, should also be considered. This study proposes a methodology for incorporating DGs and EVs into existing power systems. Power can be generated by DG directly where needed, while excess energy can be stored by EVs. Existing power systems can be made more efficient and cost-effective by combining these technologies. The methodology was applied to a 6-node IEEE system and a 33-node IEEE distribution system. It was found that DG can reduce network losses and voltage drops associated with EV penetration and that DG improves voltage drops.
