Suicide and the Human Service Professions in the Twenty-First Century: Current Issues and Future Directions

Abstract

Five current issues of importance to human service professionals and the field of suicidology are examined, including Joiner’s theory of suicide, suicide in the LGBT population, bullying and suicide, the relationship between firearm availability and suicidal risk, and suicide in the military. Implications and recommendations for the human service professions are addressed.
