ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research was to determine participants' perceptions of the positive influence of the natural environment on their well-being. Through a qualitative study, semistructured interviews were held with selected participants who enjoy activities in the natural environment. From the data analysis, particular themes emerged, namely the multidimensionality of well-being; how to achieve well-being; the influence of the natural environment on well-being, and the kind of thoughts and feelings experienced when in a natural environment. Further research is recommended on the perceptions of people who do not enjoy interacting with the natural environment and their perceptions of well-being.
