Abstract
Online programs expand the possibility of LIS education. With 24/7 access to coursework, students grow accustomed to immediate access to information. Online education presents unique considerations for students who may require assistance navigating institutional structures. As more students pursue online education, LIS programs are exploring innovative ways to meet student needs. This study explores one program’s use of e-advising as a “wrap-around” support service developed to assist students in an online environment. Findings highlight student perspectives about the types of advising students value, the services they use, and suggest a model that can be replicated in other LIS programs.
