From the Editor

Welcome to the first issue of the Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning for 2020. This will be our first issue since the COVID-19 pandemic. During this unprecedented time while our libraries, universities, cities, counties, states, and countries were closing, the process of reviewing and finalizing articles basically came to a complete halt. Slowly our work lives started to return to a “new normal.”

I would like to take the time to thank our authors for their understanding and patience while we navigated through this time and tried to re-create the process we were used to having in place. I want to also thank my editorial board members who, while trying to re-create their work environment from their homes and with limited access, if they had access at all, to their offices, worked to review our submissions and return those reviews to me, so we could keep the process going. Finally, I want to thank the editorial and production team at Taylor & Francis for their understanding, patience, offer of assistance, and guidance during this unparalleled period in our history. Without everyone’s willingness and cooperation, this issue would not have been possible.

During this historical time, most of our universities moved their classes to the online environment. Some of us had to completely revise the way we provided services and resources. The Journal of Library & Information Services in Distance Learning is a good place to look for tips, tricks, and advice during this transition. Additionally, if you have found yourself new to the distance learning environment due to the pandemic or if you have found news ways of providing services and resources to your students, we would love to hear about your experiences.

In the meantime, I hope the four articles we have for you in this issue will be of interest. I hope you enjoy this issue of our Journal.
