Nature and Narratives: The Romantic Structure of O'Reilly Technical Books

Pages 358-364 | Published online: 23 Nov 2006

Notes

1. A coatimundi is a South American mammal of the Procyonid family, a family that includes raccoons (see http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/core/colophon.html).

2. I use the term “geek” here with affection. After spending almost 15 years in the software industry, the last four as a programmer, I think I sit clearly in the geek category myself.

3. For a number of years the For Dummies technical books were edited by Sarah "Intellagirl" Robbins. Robbins has since become a ground-breaking educator and full of techismo in her own right (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/intellagirl).
