Structural Equation Modeling with JMP® Pro

Pages 80-92 | Published online: 26 Feb 2021

ABSTRACT

JMP® Pro has introduced a new structural equation modeling (SEM) platform to its suite of multivariate methods of analysis. Utilizing their graphical user interface, JMP Pro has created a SEM platform that is easily navigable for both experienced and novice SEM users. As a new platform, JMP Pro does not have the capacity to implement certain modeling approaches (e.g., multiple-group, multilevel, and mixture models), but it supports many others (e.g., CFA, cross-lagged panel models, growth and difference models, and one-sample time-series). In the present review, strengths and limitations of the platform are detailed, and model features are demonstrated through two worked examples.

Notes

1. Users may also edit models using JMP Pro scripting language (JSL) syntax, either directly or by modifying the syntax of a previously created model. Further, the underlying syntax for any model developed using the GUI may be viewed and edited directly by the user.

2. Data simulation was conducted using R ver. 3.6.1 (R Core Team, Citation2019).

3. Note that factor loading equality constraints are labeled using a “c” and then a number corresponding to the order constraints were specified.

4. Note that the Mean/Intercepts equality constraints are labeled using an “a” followed by a number corresponding to the order constraints were specified.

5. Note that all variance equality constraints are labeled using a “b” followed by a number corresponding to the order constraints were specified.
