ABSTRACT
The instability and vibration of a concentrated mass moving along the curved beam is investigated. In most literature, the moving mass model is approximated by the moving load model. The semi-analytical method for this moving mass problem is presented here. Comparison between the two models is made. The mechanism of instability of the vehicle separating from a curved bridge is studied. Moreover, the effects of several parameters and boundary conditions on the vibration and instability are investigated.
