Abstract

A new type of axially varying thickness lateral corrugated tube (AVTLCT) is proposed and optimized, and the energy absorption and multi-objective optimization of the two AVTLCTs with the number of corrugations (N) of 6 and 10 are analyzed. Research shows that for the AVTLCT with N = 6, the value ranges of A and k for the Pareto front are more evenly distributed, which implies that the AVTLCT with N = 6 has better scalability than the AVTLCT with N = 10. Compared with the original design, the optimized solution has a maximum increase of 55.36% in SEA and a maximum reduction of 69.88% in Fmax.
