Personal and Maternal Parameters of Peer Violence at School

Pages 100-119 | Received 10 Oct 2007, Accepted 03 Jan 2008, Published online: 09 Mar 2009

Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop a theory-driven model combining personal and familial factors that act as parameters of bullying and victimization experiences at school and to test its ability to fit the data. It was found that a child involved in peer violence at school is a child that looks different than the rest, is disliked and isolated by peers, is not effectively monitored at home, and has the tendency to blame factors other than the aggressor when asked to explain aggressive acts.
