Readability of Veterans’ Health Resources

Pages 276-285 | Published online: 29 Oct 2018

Abstract

There are many veterans’ health resources. These resources provide much needed information to veterans, their loved ones, and caregivers. Online materials are available from a wide range of organizations including the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Oftentimes, veterans’ health information is written at an advanced reading level using complicated terminology and not the recommended fifth to eighth grade reading levels. This article will provide a list of these resources and a discussion of their readability in comparison to MedlinePlus.
