Abstract

Consumer health information is particularly susceptible to miscommunication, misrepresentation, or misappropriation, and this vulnerability can have negative health consequences for information seekers. By following a set of guidelines, information seekers can steer clear of poor or malicious consumer health resources. These guidelines can be followed on their own, or with the help of new tools developed specifically to help consumers grow into adept information seekers and, in turn, information producers.
