The 19th International Symposium on Advanced Display Materials and Devices (ADMD 2015) was held at The-K Hotel, Gyeongju, Korea on October 22–25, 2015.

The forerunner of ADMD, “International Symposium on Liquid-Crystalline Materials and Devices (LCMD),” started by the collaboration between Professor Tomiki Ikeda of Tokyo Institute of Technology (at present, Chuo University), Japan and Professor Lee-Soon Park of Kyungpook National University (at present, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology), Korea in 1997. The science and technology of flat-panel displays (FPDs) have been remarkably advanced over the past decade to realize commercial production of new type of FPDs like PDP and OLED in addition to LCD. In 2004, therefore, the name of the symposium was changed from LCMD to ADMD to include these advanced display devices, and the publication of the proceedings of ADMD was started as a special issue of Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals.

In ADMD 2015, at Gyeongju, Korea 6 plenary lectures, 18 invited lectures, and 86 poster papers were presented and there were over 100 participants. The number of lectures and poster papers were in the order of OLED materials and devices, LCD module and materials, and Solar cell and thin films. This order of papers presented in ADMD 2015 reflect the trend of research and development in current information displays and closely related areas.

ADMD 2015 was sponsored by The Society for Information Display Korea Chapter, Korea Display Industry Association, The Korea Information Display Society, and The Japanese Liquid Crystal Society. We highly appreciate their supports.

ADMD 2015 was organized successfully, which is thanks to the contribution by many people: invited speakers, participants, reviewers of the papers submitted to this special issue and also to Ms. Shana Meyer, Production Editor of this volume of MCLC for minute editing.
