abstract

Organic, polymer, and hybridized nanocrystals should be reviewed at the present time as a new class and optical element material from the viewpoints of fundamental physical science and optical device applications, that is, development of fabrication techniques, control of morphology such as crystal size and shape, crystal size dependence of linear optical properties, layered thin films, hybridization with noble metal nanoparticles. evaluation of nonlinear optical properties, enhancement of the corresponding figure of merit for optical switching device, encapsulation for self- and direct-assembly toward optical circuits, some products of related researches, and future perspectives in photonics.
