Abstract

In this study, fluorinated acrylic emulsion (FAE) was prepared by emulsion polymerization using a reactive emulsifier as the surfactant and ammonium persulfate (APS) as the initiator. The structure of the FAE was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The properties of FAEs were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), contact angle, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In XPS spectra, a fluorine-containing group was identified on the film and thermal stability and contact angle of the acrylic emulsion of fluorine-containing group were increased.
