Published online: 17 May 2024

Abstract

The study investigates the hydrolytic degradation behaviors of blends comprising polylactides (PLA) and poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) in the form of monolayers and bulk films. PLA is a biodegradable polymer widely used in various applications, while PPC offers unique properties, making it a promising candidate for blend formulations. The research explores the degradation kinetics and mechanical properties under controlled hydrolysis conditions. The finding focuses on the compatibility of PLA and PPC, their degradation mechanisms, and the impact of blend composition on degradation rates. Understanding the hydrolytic behavior of these blends is crucial for designing eco-friendly materials with tailored degradation profiles for diverse applications.
