Pages 220-231 | Published online: 15 Dec 2015

Abstract

School age children are truly digital natives, exposed to a wide variety of technologies at home and in school. Educators and mobile app developers have recognized that games designed for smartphones and tablets can also be used as effective teaching tools. This column explores mobile applications designed for children, focusing on four educational apps: Solve the Outbreak, ToxInvaders, Monster Guard, and ChemCrafter. Tools and resources for finding and evaluating science and health-related apps designed for children are also discussed.
