Abstract

In the present study, a mediator-less dual chambered, H-type microbial fuel cell (MFC) was constructed for bioelectricity production by using rumen fluid collected from slaughter house and various parameters like electrodes, catholytes, pH, and substrates have been optimized for the maximum current production. Carbon, acetic acid, pH 7.0, and spinach gave a maximum of 610 mV and 530 mA, 470 mV and 140 mA, 590 mV and 420 mA, 470 mV and 20 mA, respectively. The cyclic voltammetry of anodic biofilm of MFC have confirmed that the oxidation of the organic matter has taken place and the electrons were released to the electrode.
