Article Title: Case Study: Airborne asbestos exposures associated with the installation and removal of roofing products

Authors: Jason T. Lotter, Ben Roberts, John L. Henshaw, Jennifer S. Pierce

Volume 13, Issue 8, Pages D121-131

DOI: 10.0180/15459624.2016.1183010

The authors are withdrawing the paper “Case Study: Airborne asbestos exposures associated with the installation and removal of roofing products” due to procedural errors that resulted in the paper receiving inadequate review prior to publication.

The JOEH Editor in Chief has informed the Board of Directors that the paper was incorrectly submitted to the Journal's “column” section. The paper should have been submitted as a “review” manuscript. The JOEH editorial review process did not identify this error, and as a result, the paper did not receive the level of peer review to which such manuscripts are typically subject. This error was not discovered until after the paper was published in the August 2016 “Case Study” column. The JOEH Board apologizes for these errors.

The Board appreciates the authors' decision to withdraw the paper, and has invited them to resubmit the paper as a review manuscript. The Board is reviewing and updating the Journal's procedures and policies to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
