Abstract
Industry and student demand are driving many academic programs towards adding meeting and event courses to their curriculum. To date, curriculum decisions are made with little research on the number and scope of academic programs offering meeting or event planning or management courses and programs. The purpose of this study was to explore the scope of meeting or event planning or management programs or courses offered by institutions of higher education in the United States and to create the most comprehensive database for use by key stakeholders. With the current database as a baseline, industry stakeholders may monitor the future growth of meeting or event planning or management courses and forecast future trends in this academic discipline.
