Shannon Jenkins

Shannon Jenkins is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth; she served as chair of the Political Science Department from 2012–2018 and is currently the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her primary research focuses on decision making in state legislatures, with a specific focus on the role of political organizations and gender in shaping outputs in these institutions. Her research has appeared in journals such as Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Research Quarterly, State Politics and Policy Quarterly, and Social Science Quarterly. She also researches the effect of engaged learning pedagogies on college students’ political interest and engagement and has published the results of this research in places like the Journal of Political Science Education and P.S.: Political Science and Politics. She is the author/coauthor of three books and has received two Fulbrights, one in China in 2012 and one in Japan in 2019. She received her PhD in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago 2003.
