Nanocomposites of polyaniline (PAni) with CdS were prepared from the reaction of dimethyl cadmium (DMCd) and hydrogen sulphide with camphor sulphonic acid (CSA) and phosphoric acid (PA) acid doped polyanilines. PAni.CSA.CdS (PAni‐I) and PAni.PA.CdS (PAni‐II), the so‐named nanocomposites in their UV‐Visible absorption spectra showed λ(abs.) at about 450–460 nm in addition to the bands at ∼320 nm and ∼600 nm due to polyaniline. The band above ∼800 nm due to conducting phase of polyanilines decreased in intensity with increasing CdS ratio. The greenish‐black composite powders showed flaky morphology under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X‐ray diffraction (XRD) measurement showed broad pattern for hexagonal crystal structure of CdS in PAni‐I and cubic in PAni‐II with variation in particle diameter and crystal structure depending on the nature of doped polyaniline.
