An effort has been made to synthesize lead doped neodymium powders of a few compositions with 0.42≤x≤0.48 by chemical route. Composition with x=0.42 in this system has shown the particle size of the order of∼50 nm. The formation of nanosize powders has enabled us to form solid solution of these compositions at temperature below the evaporation temperature of lead oxide. Electrical and magnetic characterization has been carried out with in the temperature range 20 K–300 K. A peak in resistivity ( ρ) vs temperature plots for these compositions is attributed to semiconductor‐metal transition, which is supported by magnetic phase transition from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic state for all these compositions. Low magnetization for composition x=0.45 and 0.48 seems to be due to mixed magnetic states.
