A new Cadmium(α) complex [Cd(eatz)6](NO3)2 · 2H2O (eatz =2‐amino‐5‐ethyl‐1,3,4‐thiodiazole) was synthesized and its single crystal was obtained. The single crystal structure of this complex was investigated and characterized by X‐ray diffractometion, IR and thermal analysis (TG and DSC), respectively. X‐ray diffraction indicates that the crystal of [Cd(eatz)6](NO3)2 · 2H2O belongs to a Triclinic system, with crystallographic data: a=8.4460(17) Å, b=13.777(3) Å, c=19.623(4) Å, α=52(3)°, β=98.58(3)°, γ=94.87(3)°. Biological activity study shows that the complex has a good antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.
