Abstract
A new azido-bridged dinuclear Schiff base nickel(II) complex, [Ni 2 (C 12 H 15 Br 2 N 2 O) 2 ( μ 1,1 −N 3 ) 2 (CH 3 CN) 2 ]· 2CH 3 CN, has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex comprises a centrosymmetric dinuclear nickel(II) moiety and two lattice acetonitrile molecules. The inversion center is located at the midpoint of the two inversion related Ni atoms. Each Ni atom is hexacoordinated by one Schiff base ligand, one acetonitrile molecule, and two bridging azide ligands. The molecules in the crystal are linked through weak intermolecular hydrogen bonds of types C−H…N, forming chains running along the a axis. There are none but weak intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the crystal, leading to the instability of the crystal.
