Abstract
Two new cobalt(III) complexes, [Co2(L1)2(AEN)(N3)] (1) and [Co(L2)(PEA)(N3)] (2) (L1 = 2-[1-(2-hydroxyethylimino) ethyl]phenolate, L2 = 2-[1-(2-phenylaminoethylimino)ethyl] phenolate, AEN = 2-aminoethanolate, PEA = N-phenylethane-1,2-diamine), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. The structures of the complexes have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The coordination geometry around cobalt atoms in both complexes is distorted octahedral with one tridentate Schiff base ligand, one bidentate ligand, and one monodentate azide ligand. The antimicrobial activity of the complexes was studied.
